Samantha Avans is an American filmmaker based in Tennessee.

Before her senior year of high school, she had no intentions of pursuing film or any form of media. However, when starting her senior year she encountered a movie she disliked so much that she decided to take things into her own hands and pursue film as a career.

 

(She did like film before this moment, don't worry.)

 

Because of her lack of experience and knowledge in filmmaking, she has spent the last several years absorbing as much information(and as many experiences) as possible.

She started in live production, where she familiarized herself with a variety of roles, from camera operator to broadcast director. She attended Full Sail University and obtained a bachelor's degree in Digital Cinematography during this time.

With a childhood passion for art, Samantha combines her own experience with art and her knowledge of it and its history with filmmaking to create new projects. While some do not view film as an art form, she does. She believes film is an incredibly versatile medium that can tell the greatest of stories.
